Tara Gibson-Johnson Says Hello As New Volunteer Coordinator

Hello burner family, volunteers, and friends!

It is with great honor and pure joy to announce my return as Volunteer Coordinator (VC) for Sacramento Valley Spark (SVS). My decision to return as the SVS volunteer coordinator was made with support from members of the Board and a desire to connect our local and surrounding talented burner communities to create amazing future projects together.

My vision as the Volunteer Coordinator is to create a sense of community among the volunteers within our region and with our surrounding regions in California, Nevada, and beyond. I believe that our volunteers are the heart of our community, and without each of you we only have ideas. It is because of the countless hours of volunteer work, sharing of your creative talents and skills that each of YOU have contributed and continue to do so, that we can be proud of our community at large! With trust, respect, and appreciation we can continue to grow and expand to create amazing events where our connections strengthens our communities.

I understand how important the first contact is with a potential volunteer and with that, I will assure that each email inquiry is responded to in a timely manner and all questions are acknowledged and answered accordingly. I will work with each potential volunteer to find out what their strengths and talents are, and perhaps help you discover new talents, so that each volunteer can contribute in every way possible. I envision a renewal of the amazing community that we are, building a large diverse family community of SVS members, regional and local Burners. I see a place where this amazing and talented network of volunteers can continue to safely and productively work in harmony with each other to accomplish each of our collective goals.

There are and will be many amazing opportunities to participate in and to help create, including a possible local Sacramento non-sanctioned arts event to take this Fall. This event would be a one-day/evening event highlighting hands-on workshops, art galleries, music, and more. The Board is also looking for a lead for this type of event.

If you want to volunteer at any of our future events as a general volunteer, share your live or gallery art, show off an art car or other large art installation, host a workshop, perform music, dj, fire/flow or dance performance, bring your theme camp, or just want to be placed on the volunteer email list, please consider filling out our simple and easy volunteer application form. I am so excited to be returning to SVS, reconnecting with our community, and collaborating with regional communities for future events to come.
