Join Sacramento Valley Spark for a weekend of learning, creativity, and community at the Playa Academy Makers Campout. Playa Academy is a unique burner retreat focusing on sharing knowledge, skills, and experiences. Seasoned members from our community contribute to the classes taught, creating a diverse and thoughtful learning environment.

Playa Academy is built by the community, for the community. Expect a rich mix of community-sourced classes, workshops, and experiments aiming to spark curiosity, share skills, and deepen connection. Whether you come to teach, learn, or collaborate, this is a space to explore what’s possible together.

Welding Class

Class offerings

Playa Academy starts with attendees selecting the classes they will attend. Some classes are signup-only, others allow drop-ins. All course materials are provided through your ticket purchase. Once again, we’re thrilled to offer a wider variety of offerings.

Tickets

General admission tickets are $100 for two nights of camping. Class supplies for premium classes are included. Discount codes are provided to teachers and volunteers; discounts vary.

The main ticket sale starts Monday, March 23rd, at 12 pm. Discount ticket sales will be offered for teachers, artists, and volunteers. Updates coming soon!

Registering for classes

Ticketed attendees will be sent a link to register for classes. Some classes require early sign-up, and demand will exceed capacity. Other classes are open to drop-ins.

Volunteers

Volunteers play a key role in making Playa Academy happen, and we expect volunteers to satisfy their obligations. To each their capacity – volunteer accordingly. Volunteers working four hours qualify for a half-off discount on the $100 ticket.
