CAMP GOTALOTGOINON
Team GALGO is founded by flow troupe Up In Smoke, so we also offer flow classes and performance off and on playa. Director of camp, VuPu is a fusion dancer, as well as other campmates, so dance and movement class are also part of the experience at camp Gotalotgoinon.
Our camp is part of the sustainability movement and we run camp almost exclusively on solar and battery storage. We decreased the number of vehicles, to and from the burn, by carpooling and sharing hauling. We hope to store camp art closer to Black Rock city in future years as camp grows and to decrease our carbon footprint in the future. GALGO also coordinates multiple activities off playa to offset our carbon footprint before, during and after Burning Man. The Wildflower Shaker Bike Ride and The Topsoil and Compost Outreach activities and events with the local community. The sustainability of our planet and Burning man are extremely important to our camp goals.
Activities at our camp during the Playa Academy include:
- Dick Toss
- Hula Hoop Twister
- Puzzle Board
- Puzzle Box (You have to solve the puzzle to get in the box for a prize)
- Interactive Art Activity -> make Candy Bracelets and Necklaces

Keeping Cool on the Playa
Join Indy on an adventure to find the best ways to keep cool on the playa. Last year was extra challenging on playa because of the extreme heat and lots of whiteouts. The dust clogged many conventional A/C units and delivery problems made for extra long lines for ice. My goal is to provide designs that minimize the use of ice and keep the coolers from becoming a clogged dirty mess.
I’ll have live demonstrations of coolers, both DIY and off the shelf that you can optimize for your particular needs.
Handouts and links will be provided for each cooling system demonstrated.

Quirky Corky’s Bottle Cap Car

~ About Quirky Corky: I love up-cycling and turning trash into treasure. I first was fascinated as a teenager by the bottle tabs on soda cans and even though I didn’t drink them – would save them from family and friends. I made my own chain mail & linked the soda can tabs together using 12 gauge wire. Understandably it was the wrong gauge wire to use. Myself and one other friend painstakingly cut every single link by hand.
My interest continued as I started the idea of collecting bottle caps at the Post-production Commercial Studio I was working at in LA. I’ve continued to join communities that also celebrated up-cycling down in the Salton Sea. Doing art gatherings with residents and close friends; where all the art supplies were really just a pile of what most would consider garbage. The entire Art Garden was upcycled crap turned beautiful. Largest outdoor art garden in the world in the middle of the desert.
I turn a lot of trash into treasure. I look forward to taking more quirky obscure trash & turning it into something unique. I’m a trash pirate princess, your trash is my treasure!

Abu the Horsefly

Abu the Horsefly is inspired by the Studio Ghibli iconic 1986 movie Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. Many talented artists contributed to the creation of Abu: Chuck Sommerville, Scott Parenteau, Rene Steinke, Sara Lornitzo, Danny Scheible just to name a few! Because of that, this reincarnation of the art car is singularly amazing.
