‘Summer Spark’ becomes drive-thru art experience

Summer Spark poster

Ticket Sales/Information

Summer Spark “drive-thru” provides a unique in-car art experience allowing guests to drive through a multi-sensory experience inspired by the annual counter-cultural event Burning Man.

Set at Rancho Cordova’s “Mine Shaft” event center (2300 Mine Shaft Lane), this two-night event from 7 p.m until midnight July 24 and 25 offers art installations, mutant vehicles, flow art performances, and late-night eats from some of your favorite food trucks.

With Burning Man canceled this year, local burners, lead by the non-profit Sacramento Valley Spark, have turned their attention to creating this unique experience.

The drive-thru format, strict social distancing, and mask use will be employed to minimize health risks.

Advanced reservation tickets are $20 per vehicle. Drop-in admission $30. Food and art sales are a la carte.

This project is supported by Rancho Cordova’s Community Enhancement Fund. This event is not sponsored or endorsed by The Burning Man Project or any of its affiliates.

  • I emailed the SactoMoFo regarding which food trucks will be there and they replied that they have nothing on their calendar for July 24-25th? Are those the food trucks that are going to be present?

    Thank you

    • The food trucks are Azteca Street Tacos, Drewski’s and Mely’s Churros on Friday and
Azteca Street Tacos, Lumpia Truck and Mely’s Churros on Saturday

      • Hi, the long line of cars is not moving. Are there people upfront to usher cars in and make sure they aren’t just lounging while we’re all stuck in line? At this point I’m not sure we’ll make it and we already paid!

        • I hope you stuck it out. We were able to accommodate everyone in line by midnight.

  • This is the stupidest idea yet. How much is this costing the tax payers. The “ART” i have seen in the rancho shows would have made horror shows proud. The person pictures look like they have been torched with acid.
The scenic art work looks like the after mass of a nuclear.explosion. How about we get some REAL artist to display.

  • Can you please be professional and respond to inquiry instead deleting? You have my email to kindly respond why the $20 advance option is not available. Thank you. print screenshots are taken of this post.

  • Is this event entirely out doors or are vehicles directed into some kind of tent-like structure or enclosure?

  • When I go to purchase a ticket it says $30 plus fees and no time to choose to arrive. I thought people had to choose a time and get there 30 min early. I also thought prepaid tickets are $20. Please advise, thank you!

  • We waited in line for AN HOUR because the website says $20 for a ticket OR $30 FOR A DROP IN. Just to be told that they are sold out?????? AN HOUR. The whole time our three year old is excited to see lights and patiently waited in line too. Poorly put together and REALLY disappointing that they didn’t even mention this. Nothing mentions this!?!?!

    • I’m sorry that was your experience. We needed a sign up the road telling people it was sold out and we could not sell tickets at the door.
