From the time I have joined the community I have been in service, as both a volunteer and a leader, in bringing the core principles to our community. With over six years of experience in the Sacramento Burner community I have fulfilled roles on and off Playa as a Volunteer, Builder, Fundraiser and team Leader on project such as Playa Queen, Burn the River, Spark the Dark and most recently The Great Train wreck.

Why an officer?
The Sacramento area is a great community, not only for Burners but for all artist. I will strive to build opportunity and with the efforts of the community I will participate in efforts to help build our community up. Furthermore, it will be an excellent opportunity to help bring awareness to our cause in our local culture. To Focus on the positive things that brought the success to the community, and continue to build on those values.

Do you see yourself sitting on a committee?
Communications, Strategic Planning, Events, Policies and Procedures

Why a committee?
For our community to have the success we need to communicate, from my time in the military to the present day, the most important tool we can utilize is our communication. My experience with various levels of government, social groups, and multimedia platforms has built up an invaluable skill set to bring a core level of understanding to all authorities and stakeholders alike. For the events portion of our boards responsibility I will bring a solid set of skills that will ensure success. We, as a community, love our art, people and culture. I have worked with some of the top leadership in our global community and will bring a solid understanding the frame work, execution, and post event activities that are involved with a successful event. When policies and procedures need to be addressed I bring a skill set that is practiced from the upper echelons of government to the local community fundraiser. I possess a solid understanding that we are in a “Do-ocracy” that from time to times requires guidance.

Skills?
I have spent the last six years honing my skill with the community, fire, fire performance, managing performers, developing iconic graphics, document development (automated), web development, promotions, fund raising, gifting, budgets, 25+ years in various technologies (personal computing to enterprise), skydiving, public speaking, Art(inception to destruction), Communications(print, digital, voip), Frame Work, Disaster Recovery, motivation.

In conclusion…
Thank you to SVS, the Board, my family of friends and Tribe, yet most importantly the community for this most excellent opportunity.

Experience serving on the board of directors of another California corporation., Experience and success in event planning.

Community Involvement
At almost every SVS and pre-SVS (SACBMOA) event, all the way back to the first Burn the River in 2011, I’ve been involved in event planning, Rangering/safety, and/or electrical grid lead. I’ve probably attended more Board of Directors meetings than any board member, past or present. I was briefly on the SVS Board during part of 2014 and 2015, and I served on the board of another local organization for several years. I’ve lived in the Sacramento area most of my life, and have been involved with the burner scene since 1998, so I feel I have a clue about what burners in this town can accomplish. I’m passionate about our local community and want to help it continue to thrive!

Do you see yourself sitting on a committee?
Communications, Strategic Planning, Events, Policies and Procedures

Why a committee?
I’d like to help take SVS to the next level, where it can unite the large local community of people who share “burner” values, and provide a platform which enables inspired leaders to flourish with their projects. I envision helping to shape an organization which builds and maintains community trust and confidence through continuous and clear communication, and with a high degree of organizational transparency (’til it hurts!). I’m also interested in continuing to help the organization sponsor local events and administer art grants.

Skills?
I feel my most important skills as a Board member are maintaining objectivity in the face of competing goals (a skill that has served me well as a Black Rock Ranger) and building consensus. I also feel I bring a good deal of institutional knowledge from my past experience with SVS and local events. It’s also likely that my skills as a software developer, general technical geek, and amateur photographer may be of some value.

In conclusion…
I’m excited about the prospect of a new team who will do great and memorable things, and would like your vote so that I can be a part of that team. And, I’ll say it again, TRANSPARENCY!
